We are equally comfortable answering your questions here, by telephone, or in person. Robert continued to work as a funeral director, assisted by his daughter, Amy L. Snyder, until the day he died in 2015, at age 97. Today, Amy continues to operate the business that bears her father’s name. The Snyders purchased the funeral home from Robert Struthers, a former high school classmate of Marjorie. During a meeting with a salesman, Mr. Struthers mentioned that he was thinking of selling his business. The salesman’s next stop was up the river in Easton, at the Snyder Funeral Home on North Third Street, which had been owned and operated by Robert’s late father, Elmer Snyder.

While chatting with Robert, the salesman let slip Mr. Struthers’ intention to sell his business. Unwilling to betray a confidence, Robert waited three days before mentioning his conversation with the salesman to Marjorie. Marjorie, having known Mr. Struthers in high school, felt confident that they could approach him about purchasing his funeral home; soon after, their happy life in Riegelsville began. A funeral is a special event in which family, friends and neighbors gather to celebrate, share memories, and mourn a deceased loved one.
